Privacy Policy

Effective date: 8 September 2026 · Applies to the Resona Android app (package app.resona) and this website.

Summary

Resona is a music player for libraries you already own or host yourself. Resona does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. There is no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no Resona account. Everything the app stores stays on your device. The only servers Resona talks to are the music servers you choose to connect.

1. Who we are

Resona is an independent app developed by SenthilTechSpot (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at senthiltechspot@gmail.com.

2. Data we collect

None. We operate no backend, no account system, and no telemetry. We never receive your listening history, library contents, IP address, device identifiers, or diagnostics.

3. Data stored on your device

To function, Resona stores the following locally on your device only:

  • Server connection details and credentials — the URL, username, and password or token for each music server you add. These are stored encrypted using the Android Keystore and are used only to authenticate your requests to that server.
  • A cached copy of your library metadata — album, artist, track, and playlist information synced from your server so the app works quickly and offline.
  • Downloaded audio files that you explicitly choose to download for offline playback.
  • Playback and listening history used to show “recently played” and on-device listening statistics. This never leaves your device.
  • App settings and preferences such as theme, Wi-Fi-only download rules, and offline mode.

You can erase all of this at any time by signing out inside the app or by clearing the app’s storage / uninstalling it.

4. Network connections

Resona makes network requests only to:

  • Music servers you configure (e.g. your Navidrome, Jellyfin, Emby, or WebDAV server) — to browse, stream, and download your music. Your credentials and requests go directly to that server. We are not a party to that connection.
  • Your local network — for server auto-discovery (mDNS/DNS-SD and a subnet scan) so the app can suggest servers running on your Wi-Fi. Discovery data is used only on-device to populate the connect screen.
  • Optional third-party enrichment services, only when the relevant feature is enabled and a lookup is needed:
    • LRCLIB (lrclib.net) — to fetch synced lyrics when your server has none. A track title and artist are sent as a search query.
    • Deezer public API — to fetch artist images when artist photos are enabled. An artist name is sent as a search query.
    These requests contain no account information or persistent identifier. You can avoid them by leaving the features off.

Cleartext (HTTP) connections are permitted only for servers on private IP ranges, and only after you explicitly confirm the connection, so that self-hosted LAN servers without a TLS certificate can be reached. You are always told when a connection is not encrypted.

5. Permissions

  • Internet / network state — to connect to your music servers and detect Wi-Fi vs. mobile data for your download rules.
  • Foreground service & notifications — to keep music playing in the background and show playback controls.
  • Local network discovery — to find music servers on your Wi-Fi network.

Resona does not request access to contacts, location, camera, or microphone.

6. Children’s privacy

Resona is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, regardless of age.

7. Data sharing and sale

We do not have your data, so we cannot and do not sell or share it. There are no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the app.

8. Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on our side. All data the app uses is under your direct control on your device. Any music-library data is governed by the privacy policy of the server operator you connect to.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and publish the revised version at this URL. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
